HUSBAND and wife Tim and Dawn Taylor will compete in the Mitsibishi Clay Pigeon Shooting World Championships.

The Doddington couple qualified at a recent shoot in Kelmarsh.

They will compete in Shropshire in September.

Tim, 37, was the highest scoring qualifier while Dawn was one of the top performing ladies.

Edgar Davies, 60, a fellow member of Doddington-based Fenland Gun Club narrowly missed out on qualification.

Mr Taylor said: "If myself and Dawn can continue in the form we're in then I'm pretty confident that we can go there and become a world champions.

The three of us have been performing well all over the country and are targeting the London 2012 Olympics.

"The qualifying standard is very high but we're not far off it now.

"We all have to work on reaching our peaks and being consistent.

"I'd estimate that we each shoot about 1,000 cartridges a week."

The trio compete in country shows all over the country and shoot two to three times a week in local events.

Davies recently was the highest gun and country shows in Norfolk and Burley.

Tim and Dawn are looking for sponsorship for future events.

They have also set up their own business, offering coaching, corporate days out and various other services.
