WISBECH Town look set to lose another key player to Soham Town Rangers, with midfielder Stuart Ablett on the verge of joining the BGB Southern League Division One (Midlands) side.

Soham boss Ian Benjamin has been chasing the 22-year-old for several weeks.

The former Wisbech manager has brought several Fenmen to the Greens, including Darren Jimson, Andy Furnell, Simon Flanz, Scott Johnson and, most recently striker Billy Smith, who signed for Soham last month.

Wisbech manager Steve Taylor said: "Unfortunately Stuart seems to have made his mind up to join Soham.

"It's very disappointing and with Billy Smith leaving as well I'm looking to bring in two or three players as soon as I can."

The Fenmen did receive good news this week as striker Scott Cubberley has decided to snub an approach from Ridgeons Premier Division rivals King's Lynn Reserves and stay with Wisbech.
