POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Lynn Road, Wisbech, in which a woman was attacked by another woman.

It happened at 5pm last Tuesday as the woman was walking past the town's park. She felt a blow to the back of her head and someone pulling her handbag. The attacker then ran off empty handed along Lynn Road towards the BP filling station. The victim suffered minor injuries.

The attacker is described as a white woman aged about 20 with long dark brown hair tied back in a ponytail.

She was wearing a beige Puffa-style jacket, light blue jeans and silver hooped earrings with a silver necklace.

Detective Sergeant Dave York said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or thinks they may recognise the offender's description."
