A HORSE has been rescued from a Fenland river this morning, after a two-hour recovery mission by the fire service - and a helping hand by a villager.
The horse was stuck in the Middle Level Drain at Three Holes and was believed to have been stuck by the time fire crews arrived.
Crews from Outwell and King's Lynn - including a rescue vehicle and specialist water support unit - tried to secure a harness on the horse by using a dinghy, but could not keep up with the horse swimming in the water.
However, 25-year-old Dorne Arlington stepped in to help and waded into the water to secure a harness around the horse.
