RESIDENTS, businesses and schools are being alerted to the route the Anglia in Bloom judges will take in Wisbech so they can to do their best to impress.

The Wisbech in Bloom team has chosen a pre-set route on which it will take the judges during a two-and-a-half-hour visit in July.

The team hope everyone along the route will pull out all the stops with floral displays, a clean and tidy environment and evidence to show how the whole community is involved.

Wisbech will be judged for a second time during August because it has been nominated to represent the Anglia Region in the national competition.

Penny Stocks, secretary of Wisbech in Bloom said: "We will give £50 garden centre vouchers to the best residential front garden on the route. This does not have to be a huge garden, a collection of pots and baskets could just as well be the winner.

"We are also working with Wisbech schools as usual and again giving £50 garden centre vouchers to the Best School Project."

The team is also keen for individuals, families, businesses and companies to sponsor hanging baskets and other containers.

Mrs Stocks said: "We never get enough sponsors; we are always struggling to cover costs and if we didn't get £600 from the town council we would be in real trouble."

The cost of sponsoring a hanging basket is £30, which also covers the watering.

Mrs Stocks said: "We can't label each basket with a name but we can tell sponsors where their basket is. If anyone would like to sponsor a basket to remember a special friend or relative then we would be pleased to dedicate a basket in the Market Place, Museum Square or North Brink."

• Anyone interested in sponsoring or helping should contact Mrs Stocks on 01945 581208.
