After being shut down this morning when a “suspicious” device was found, Wisbech Recycling Centre has since reopened.

Police were called to Boleness Road at 9.50am after the discovery. They shut the tip amid fears the device could have been a bomb but a police spokesman said: “It looks like it is not harmful. It could possibly be a train signal box.”

The site reopened at around 2pm.
