RESIDENTS of a semi-detached house which police claim doubles as an unofficial off licence, have a week to stave off eviction.
Sgt Dave Bax said: "It was basically a 24/7 off-licence that is not licensed."
Police and customs officers used anti social behaviour laws to serve a closure notice on 3 Windsor Drive, Wisbech, on Tuesday following noise and nuisance complaints from neighbours.
On Wednesday the action moved into court when magistrates adjourned the case for seven days to allow the tenants time to respond to the closure order.
If the full order is approved the tenants will be forced to move out and the home will be closed for three months.
In the meantime, anyone visiting the house will be arrested for breaching the order.
Sgt Bax said: "It's quite draconian to kick people out of their homes, but they have had plenty of warnings from us that this behaviour is not acceptable.
"We had constant reports of visitors, noise and disturbance from the address. They came in through our website, where people can report incidents, and notes dropped into the police station."
Magistrates ordered the closure remains in place until the hearing and that the landlady provides details of all residents.
A large amount of cigarettes were found by officers on Tuesday, with further searches carried out in the garage and wheelie bins.
Tuesday's order followed a similar warrant carried out last month at the same house, in which a large amount of cigarettes, home-made vodka and a number of passports and bank cards were seized.
