Blesma Member Kirk Bowett, who lost his arm in 2013 while working as a private security contractor in Iraq, took on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge with a team of 15.

Kirk, a former infantryman with The Cheshire Regiment, said: “In October I met up with a great team the 3 Peaks challenge in aid of Blesma.

“The team was made up from a group of worthy volunteers from HSBC led by organiser Nick Crussell.

“All members were keen to smash the three mountains within the allotted 24 hours.

“All members of the team should feel great pride in completing this tough challenge and in aid of such a worthy cause.

“Next year the team plan an even tougher challenge.”

Blesma, The Limbless Veterans is the national charity for all limbless service men and women, their widows and dependants. It was formed in the years following the First World War and became a national charity in 1932.
