The Wisbech Sea Cadets moved a step closer to getting a new rowing boat thanks to a generous donation.

They were presented with a cheque for £500 by the Wisbech Masonic Benevolent Fund towards their new boat appeal.

They are now a third of the way to the £3,500 needed to buy a replacement for their existing rowing boat, which is nearing the end of its serviceable life.

Wisbech Sea Cadets vice president Barry Brown said: “We are extremely grateful for this very generous donation.”

The sea cadets is open to any young person between 12 and 18 and meets at their headquarters in Sandyland on Mondays and Thursdays from 7.15-9.15pm.

The junior section for 10 to 12 year olds meets on Thursdays.
