Wisbech Town Cricket Club received a very welcome £500 boost from one of the town’s organisations.

Wisbech Round Table chairman Sam Smith presented a cheque of £500 to the club to help it put on a cricket week.

Mr Smith said: “Being able to support events such as this, for local children to try a sport, is only possible thanks to the kind support of local people at events such as Wisbech Rose Fair.”

Shane Sleath, the club’s youth development manager, said: “The various activities that happened during the week helped young people develop both as cricketers and as people.

“Without the kind donations from organisations such as Wisbech Round Table we just wouldn’t have been able to put this event on.”
