FIVE new homes are being unveiled this weekend near Wisbech as one of the first new developments from the newly-formed Roddons Housing Association.

Residents of Wisbech and surrounding areas are invited to view the bungalows and homes nearing completion at the Willowmede development, Tydd St Mary.

An open day is being held tomorrow at Plot 51, 29 Kiln Drive, from 11am to 4pm for people interested in buying a share in a new home.

There are two three bedroom bungalows and three three bedroom semi-detached houses. Interested residents can buy a stake in the homes through Roddons' New Build Home Buy scheme.

The scheme allows local people to get a foot on the property ladder at a time when first time buyers are finding it increasingly difficult to do so.

Residents will be able to buy a share of between 25-50 per cent.

As an example, a resident buying a share in a bungalow of 30 per cent would buy a share worth £59,985 and pay a monthly rent of £233.28.

When Roddons Housing Association was formed in November 2007, it promised to build 500 new affordable homes for local people over five years.
