DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in an alleyway in Wisbech.

The 21-year-old woman was attacked in the alleyway near the junction of Blackfriars Road and Falcon Road, between 12.30am and 1am on Saturday.

It is believed she had met the man at The Case pub, in the Horsefair Shopping Centre, earlier that night.

The woman was not seriously injured but was extremely shaken. Following the assault, she got a taxi home and police were called.

The attacker is described as white, aged between 20 and 25, about 5ft 10in, of medium build, with short brown hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans and had a distinctive diagonal tattoo on one of his arms.

Det Con Jon Ward, who is investigating, said: "This attack has left the victim very shaken and shocked.

"It is important anyone who was in The Case that night or in the nearby area considers whether they saw the victim or her attacker, as that information could be crucial to this inquiry."
