WISBECH: Injured pedestrian in critical condition in hospital after yesterday's collision with lorry

THE pedestrian who was involved in yesterday's collision with a lorry near the Freedom Bridge roundabout in Wisbech is in a critical condition, police confirmed this morning.

The man was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, after the collision on the zebra crossing in Churchill Road, close to the Horsefair Car Park, at 12.30pm.

All roads leading to the Freedom Bridge roundabout were closed off while emergency services rescued the man from underneath the lorry. Churchill Road finally reopened at 5pm yesterday.

Horrified onlookers described the collision an accident waiting to happen. Fenland District Councillor Phil Webb is set to raise the matter with the council.
