WISBECH Grammar School's newest crop of students got a taste of abseiling, fencing and shooting as part of a week of outdoor activity training in rural Shropshire.
The 70 Year 7 students, accompanied by seven teachers, travelled to Manor Adventure at the start of their career in the senior school.
The visit, now in its ninth year, included a number of new activities including crate stacking and an extended session allowing the boys and girls to design and build a craft.
Trip organizer Dr Kevin Mann, head of the lower school at Wisbech Grammar School, said: "The object of the exercise is to promote confidence and to encourage team building and friendships. The pupils get to know each other and the lower school staff, and we get to know them.
"We have up to 40 feeder primary schools and we want to ease the transition from junior to secondary school. This trip is a good way to achieve that.
