Maddie Booth, a sixth form student at Wisbech Grammar School, has organised a fashion show to raise money for children’s charity, Unicef.

The evening of fashion and entertainment will be held in Russell Hall where pupils will take to the catwalk in outfits from the school’s textiles department, Robert Goddard and other local designer shops.

The night will feature a live choir, raffle, and dance act. There will also be an auction, including prizes such as box seats for Peterborough United, a football signed by the Manchester United Team, signed Charley Boorman books, cinema tickets and swimming passes.

Event organiser, Maddie, is one of the regional finalists for the Young Ambassador of the Year Award, representing the east of England. She has already raised over £2,000 for charities within the local community in the past year.

“Volunteering and fundraising have been a large part of my life for the last three years,” she said.

“I have gained so much from these activities. It is important that we all give something back, however small.

“I chose to support Unicef because you can protect a child in danger – and you can make a safer world for children tomorrow.”

Unicef is the world’s leading children’s organisation and provides help for children and families suffering from violence, disease, hunger, war, conflict and disaster in more than 190 countries.

The fashion show takes place on Friday March 4 from 7:00pm.

Tickets; £5 for adults and £3 for children, can be bought using School Parent Pay or on the door. They will also be on sale at the senior school reception from February 22.
