A GLAMOROUS prom for Wisbech Grammar School students staged at the end of the GCSE examinations raised more than 1,000.
The four students who organized the event privately, Madeleine Rumbelow, Emma Barker, Eleanor Overvoorde and Kimberley Alexander, have now handed a cheque for 1,160 to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
A crowd of 200, in black ties and party dresses, arrived by helicopter, by bus, in limousines and a stretched Hummer for the gathering at Tydd St Giles Community Centre and 280 was raised on the night.
This was supplemented by a donation of 300 from Wisbech Round Table and the total was then doubled in the pound for pound scheme operated by the HSBC bank.
