WISBECH Grammar School is celebrating an excellent set of A-level results with 62% of passes at A and B grades, of which 35% were A grades.

A school spokesman said: "This is a magnificent performance by all of the Sixth Formers and represents much hard work from them and careful support from their dedicated teaching staff." No fewer than ten pupils secured 3 A grades, with six achieving 4 A grades.

James Grundy of Denver and Marcus Garner-Hatcher of March are Oxford bound to read Biology and Bio-Chemistry respectively after achieving 4 grade As when only asked for 3! Twins, Charlotte and Victoria Norman, notched up a splendid 5 A grades and 1 B between the two of them and go on to study Primary Education at Sheffield University and Biology at Imperial College.

The Grammar School's new Headmaster, Nick Hammond is delighted with the School's excellent performance.

"Wisbech Grammar School has a long history of educating children to achieve more than they ever thought possible," he said.

"In these days when it is fashionable to talk down A levels, the results recorded by our students represent a significant intellectual achievement; they deserve to be congratulated. Success would not be possible without the dedication of the teaching staff who have nurtured the talent of our Sixth Formers.

"We look forward to hearing of our students' future successes as they move on to university and the wider world."
