LITTLE Georgia Ward is possibly the youngest person to get involved in the Wisbech Market Place debate - and used the local issue for her homework.

The nine-year old, who attends Elm Road Primary School, was told to investigate a talking point in the news over the Easter holidays.

Georgia, of Fardell Road, found the inspiration she needed for her project while flicking through the pages of the Wisbech Standard with her mum, Louise.

And she decided to base her holiday homework around the possible pedestrianisation of the Market Place as the subject is such a heated debate.

Her arguments against cars being allowed in the Market Place were:-

n Cars can run people over!

n Parents HAVE to keep their young children very close all the time.

n There is lots of inconsiderate parking in the Market Place and High Street.

n The emergency services can't get into the town centre quickly.

n Cars are SPEEDING!

n Car drivers are often aggressive and impatient with shoppers.

n I feel unsafe in the Market Place.

n It looks very unattractive with the cars all over the place.

Then, her arguments for vehicles in the Market Place were:-

n The elderly don't like to walk very far.

n Disabled people find it easier to get to the shops.

n People could park in the town centre at night time so they can get to their cars quickly and safely.

"It was really interesting to look at the arguments for and against allowing cars in the Wisbech Market Place," said Georgia. "I could think of more points against letting cars into that part of town.

"I don't think there should be any cars because they are really dangerous. One of my dad's friends has nearly been run over and someone could get hurt.
