A community project in Wisbech aimed at keeping children and families active, fed, and occupied during the school holidays has been hailed a success.

Plans are already in place for the Fit and Fed family fun sessions to take place in the October half term and term time at the Oasis Centre.

More than 100 people enjoyed a host of free physical activities, educational workshops, and a healthy lunch over the six-week holiday.

The events were organised by Fenland District Council’s Active Fenland team as part of its Active Families project, with support from Everyone Health and funded by the One Stop Carriers for Causes grant.

Heidi Lemmon, lead coordinator of the Fenland Fit and Fed project, said: “It was great to provide support to local families during the summer holidays. The sessions showed that activity can bring the family together and it can be fun for all, not just the children.”
