Residents at Lyncroft Care Home are enjoying regular visits from children attending Wisbech Day Nursery.
The new partnership is giving the children the opportunity to meet and get to know elderly residents and for the children and older people to make memories.
Sarah Vick, nursery manager, said: “The children love the idea of an ‘adopted grandparent’, some of them don’t have grandparents and have had little contact with the elderly.
“They are starting to build relationships with individual residents now.”
The pre-school children visit Lyncroft Care Home on a weekly basis to sing and play games with residents.
Jan Davison, home manager at Lyncroft Care Home, said: “We see this as a long-term relationship that will develop and grow over time.
“We’ve got lots of exciting innovative projects planned with the children for 2018.”
During the summer the children attending the nursery’s summer holiday club came along and helped residents in the garden.
They were invited back to the Country Court Care In Bloom celebration garden party where they helped judge the gardening competition.
The children were asked to judge the scarecrow category and enjoyed picking out their favorite from all the entries.
