CARE home worker and talented artist Christina Calver created a special comic to raise smiles among residents and cash for charity.

The 22 year old who works at Barchester's Rose Lodge care home in Wisbech put pen to paper for Sport Relief.

Christina, of Walpole St Peter, asked residents to write down words to give her inspiration. All the words were collected in a bag and then Christina worked non-stop for 24 hours to produce a stunning piece of work.

She said: "I like drawing comics as a hobby so I thought it would be good thing to do. I was expecting to feel really sluggish and tired as the time went on but once I got into it, it wasn't so bad."

The sponsored comic and other activities at the home have raised about 180 for the charity. The comic is now in the reception area of the home for residents and visitors to look at.

Julie Chambers, the home's general manager said: "Christina actively encouraged the residents to support her in raising money for Sport Relief. They provided her with the storyline by giving words to incorporate into the comic.

"Christina worked hard right through the night and the end results were spectacular. All the staff and residents are very proud of her achievements and the beautiful illustrations she created. She is extremely talented.
