BEER drinking and cathedrals are two things that most people would not usually associate with one another.
But Wisbech brewer Elgood & Sons has produced a beer to mark the 900th anniversary of Ely Cathedral.
Head brewer Alan Pateman presented two crates of the interestingly named Cathedrale to the Bishop of Ely, Dr Anthony Russell at the cathedral's lady chapel.
The bottled beer is available across Cambridgeshire and West Norfolk with 10 per cent of sales raising funds for the restoration of Ely Cathedral.
Dr Russell said: "We are most grateful to Elgoods for this generous gesture and their continued support of the cathedral.
"Celebration and festivity have always been a part of church life.
"In monastic times the cathedral would have brewed its own beer.
