THERE may have been less exhibitors than usual because of the hot weather, but that didn’t stop members of a Fenland flower society showing off stunning fuchsias at their annual exhibition.

Eighteen members of Wisbech and District Fuchsia and Pelargonium Society showed off their green credentials at the weekend-long fuchsia exhibition at Emneth Central Hall.

Miriam Green, the wife of show secretary John Green, said: “We didn’t have as many plants as we normally do because of the weather - fuchsias do not grow above 70F (21C), they stay dormant.

“But the show itself was wonderful. We had lots more people through the doors, the plants that were on display were very good and there were a lot of positive comments.”

Members also sold some fuchsias and pelargoniums, with 20 per cent of takings going to the society.
