AN open day will be held this weekend to showcase a new educational programme called Energy Works.

During the past year Cambridgeshire Environmental Education Service (CEES) - which is part of Cambridgeshire County Council - has been developing Energy Works educational visits at its new base at Coldham Wind Farm near March.

Working with its partners in the venture, Fenland District Council, The Co-operative Group and ScottishPower Renewables, CEES is now looking forward to welcoming visitors to a special Open Day to be held at Coldham on Sunday 8 June.

The Energy Works programme of educational activities has proved very popular with schools, and the Open Day is an opportunity for children to come along with their families to take part in a host of activities, including:

n Becoming involved with recycling and composting

n Examining a wind turbine

n Building a mini-turbine in the Energy Works centre

n Learning about food with the Farm to Fork programme

n Finding out about support for renewable energy in homes

The Open Day will run from 10.30am to 4pm on Sunday 8 June at Coldham Wind Farm, PE14 0LX. For further details contact CEES on 01780 782386.
