A GREAT time of year for taking photos - and here's just the competition to get you in the mood.

The Cambs Times and Wisbech Standard- in conjunction with Kellyvision of Whittlesey- is today launching a Picture of the Year Competition inviting you to send in your favourite photograph.

You can submit any picture, holiday, family, pet, funny, sad, scenery the choice is yours! Who knows some spectacularly awful picture may be your choice - but it won't be us who decide the ultimate winner!

That will be down to our readers who will get the chance to vote for their favourite photo when we publish the pictures in the papers and an online gallery for readers to vote for their favourite.

The prize is a Sony Digital 7.2 megapixel still camera, which features a 3" touch panel screen, super steady shot, Carl Zeiss vario lens, 3x optical zoom and slideshow with music facility. The prize, worth £190 is being donated by Kellyvision of Whittlesey.

Digital pictures need to be in j-peg format and e-mailed as an attachment to cameracompetition@googlemail.com.

Also, include your name, address and a contact telephone number. We will not be able to enter any pictures that are in any other format or do not have details enclosed. Alternatively photographs can be sent to Picture of the Year Competition, Cambs Times, 51 High Street, March, Cambs PE15 9JJ or Wisbech Standard, 34 Market Place, Wisbech, Cambs PE13 1DP. Please note that no pictures can be returned.

The closing date for entries is noon on Thursday, July 24.
