IT is set to be the largest event of its kind in East Anglia and the final preparations are now in place for the first ever Cambridgeshire Country Music and Line Dance Festival.

The event will be held this weekend at the Skylark Garden Centre and Showground at Wimblington and visitors are expected to travel for hundreds of miles to the unique show.

At the festival there will be a host of top famous performers and bands and there is even a huge 3000 sq foot dance floor for line dance fans.

Also unique to the vent is free camping and caravanning for 1,000 caravans or tents on the 70 acres of land at Skylark.

The festival will run from tomorrow and also Sunday and will include performers such as Muddy Boots and John Douglas and the fantastic J.D Band as well as others such as Dave Montana and the Texas Tornadoes and Billy "Bubba" King.

Everyone is welcome to the event which will include five music and dance sessions.

So whether you want to hit the dance floor and take part in the line dancing or just sit and enjoy the fantastic country music, there really is something for everyone.

Show organiser Paul Salter, said: "It is a new show and it is the first time it has been held here, but we plan to make it an annual event and we are already booking bands for next year.

"Young or old anyone can come along and have a great time."

The festival will also be raising money for the Macmillan Nurses with a special raffle.

There will also be a hog roast and refreshments and organisers plan to hold the Cambridgeshire country music and line dancing county championships at the event next year with the hopes they can host the National championships in 2010.

Music and dancing starts at 12pm each day and admission is £6.50 and under 14's are free.
