THE RSPCA Block Fen Animal Centre in Wimblington, is desperately trying to find new homes for more than 45 guinea pigs currently at the centre.

Many of the small animals came to the RSPCA in May after a breeder became overwhelmed.

They had skin problems and lice which have taken several weeks to treat. However, they are now healthy and are friendly as animal care staff gradually gets them used to being handled and around people.

There were also 20 pregnant guinea pigs, most of which have had babies at Block Fen. These include Aikisha, whose baby Wuzzle was born five weeks ago.

The guinea pigs can be rehomed in pairs or groups or as single animals to those who already have guinea pigs.

To find out about rehoming a guinea pig, or another animal, from the RSPCA Block Fen Animal Centre please call 0300 123 0726.

The RSPCA will offer a list of things people need to know about keeping guinea pigs including supplies of water, sleeping arrangements, wood chipping, daily exercise, and a gnawing block to wear down long teeth.
