GOODBYE old life, hello new world. Wisbech EuroMillions winners left a champagne reception after collecting their life changing 101 million jackpot.

Dave and Angela Dawes scooped the third biggest jackpot ever won in the UK after years of missing out on a host of prizes in raffles and other competitions.

Angela, 43, insisted she’d “never won anything in my life” while Dave, 47, joked he usually “threw his raffle tickets in the bin” before the winners were ever chosen such was his rotten luck.

Dave said: “I’m glad I never threw this one away. It stayed in my jeans and I never took them off. I still can’t believe it.”

The pair had previously drawn a blank on their first two attempts at winning the EuroMillions - before becoming the UK’s third-biggest lottery winners.

Dave and Angela chose a line each on the winning ticket, which they bought from the town’s WH Smith in Wisbech Market Place, and watched in amazement as Dave’s numbers rolled in.

The couple, who have been together for four years, said they will still get married next year in Portugal but the occasion would be much more “glamorous now”.

The multi-million pound winning pair also admitted they would never buy another EuroMillions ticket after their stunning victory.

Dave, who had worked at Premier Foods until his numbers were drawn, said that although “he couldn’t stop smiling” he would find it “crude” to win again.

He said: “We want to take a few days or a few months to let it all settle and then we want to start helping people.

“It’s not up to us to worry about whether other people will be jealous. Our responsibility will be in helping people.

“We’ve been given some great advice and although we won’t be keeping our one-bedroom flat we’ve got great friends in Wisbech - we won’t be losing touch with them.”
