Batten down the hatches and be prepared tonight for flash flooding across the Fens, the fire service warned.
A spokesman said: “Members of the public are being urged to take care ahead of severe weather scheduled to hit Cambridgeshire today (June 7).”
The spokesman said that the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Local Resilience Forum (CPLRF) are working to implement the plans for severe weather conditions.
Group Commander Sean Brown, on behalf of the Forum, said: “We have been informed of a potential risk of heavy thunderstorms this afternoon, with a chance of flash flooding in some areas.
“We are asking the public to take care if they encounter storms and think about flood precautions if necessary.”
