FUN for all the family was the theme of a community fund-raising event organised by three Holes Village Hall and Playing Field Committee on Saturday.

A car boot sale proved to be popular among adults and for youngsters there was mini soccer tournament. Local historian Bill Smith had put together a display of photographs of some village landmarks.

Other local groups which arranged activities for the day included Magpas, Welney Wildlife and Wetland Trust and the Royal British Legion. There was also a visit from the fire service.

About £300 was raised which will be used to improve the village hall and playing field.

Fourteen-year-old referee Lucy Major who took charge of some of the soccer matches.

Committee member Rita Cuss said the committee, while pleased with amount raised, was disappointed with the turnout.
