A DRIVER narrowly avoided veering off the road when a passing motorist hurled a drink can at his windscreen.

The 40-year-old man from Milton Keynes was driving along Leverington Common, towards Leverington, when he spotted a white Transit van coming the other way.

As he passed the other vehicle, the van driver leant out of his window and threw a full drink can at the car's windscreen. The driver swerved to avoid the can, which hit the glass, and almost ended up in a ditch.

The driver escaped the ordeal unharmed but very shaken.

A police spokesman said: "This was an extremely irresponsible act and one which put another road user in significant danger. It was fortunate that the driver managed to keep his car on the road and didn't collide with any other motorists or pedestrians.

"Police would like to hear from anyone else driving along this stretch of road at about 3.30pm on June 27, who remembers seeing a white transit van, or who witnessed the actual incident.
