A PETITION is being launched by Upwell Parish Council calling for the rebuilding and resurfacing of Town Street.
Residents and visitors will be able to sign the petition which will be placed in the village post office for two weeks from January 4.
Letters are also being sent to residents encouraging them to sign the petition which will be handed over to Norfolk County Council and also to write to their local county councillor and the county council directly.
Residents have been complaining to the parish council for years about the state of the road and the council has been pressurising the county council to make it fit for purpose.

Despite letters from the parish council the county highways department's answer to the requests for rebuilding was to top dress the road with chippings earlier this year.
After a parish council meeting, clerk Kate Cobley said: "The road was never built to handle heavy traffic and residents tell the council that when lorries pass, windows, doors and pictures in their homes rattle and objects fall from shelves.

"Many homes along the street are listed and the entire stretch is a conservation area. There are serious worries that many of these houses are suffering structural damage as a result of the road not being fit to carry the traffic."
Residents of Town Street have also shown support for a proposal to number houses for the first time. After the December 31 deadline, if the majority are in favour of the scheme, West Norfolk Borough Council will be instructed to proceed and it is hoped the project will be completed early in the new year.
