The driver of an HGV that left the road and rolled over between March and Chatteris has been taken to hospital with a slight injury.

Motorists trying to get a glimpse of the overturned lorry in a field caused a second crash, say Fenland Police.

They accused drivers of “rubbernecking on the A141 at the HGV that left the road near Chatteris”.

Police say there was a two-vehicle crash which temporarily blocked one of the lanes.

And for those unfamiliar with the term, a police spokesperson pointed out that “rubbernecking is at least driving without due care and attention”.

The waste recycling lorry shed its load into neighbouring fields after the crash.

It happened on the Chatteris to March stretch of the road where they have been three other incidents in the past fortnight.

Cambridgeshire Police urged drivers to approach the scene “with care”.

In a later post, police said “recovery is on scene and the vehicle is being recovered in the field. The road doesn’t need to be used for recovery”.

Police, fire and ambulance services attended.
