A RACING team produced the best ever performance by Wisbech Grammar School in the national final of the Greenpower endurance competition at Goodwood.
The school had qualified to enter a record-breaking three aluminium vehicles in the final of the competition in which schools design and build their own battery powered cars and then race them in a four-hour endurance competition.
The drivers of one of the two Twin Cambs teams in the junior section, Callum Gurbutt, 14, and Matthew Ford, Edward Slipper and Oliver Parkinson, all 13, finished 17th in a field of 77.
The other junior team finished 35th.
In the senior category, Henry Rowe, 17, who was with the TCJD team, ran a steady race and finished half way down the field.
Team manager Mr Philip Bannister said: "This is the best ever performance we have had and it shows that the team is developing and moving forward into the future.
