POOR Kumar has found himself at an aminal shelter four times in just over a year - but hopefully never again.

The RSPCA is desperate to turn the two-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier’s luck around since he first came into the animal charity’s care in early 2011.

Kumar has been left suffering from separation anxiety after having to leave three homes but the RSPCA is confident - because none of the returns were Kumar’s fault - he can be found a new home.

He was originally taken into care from a home where the owner had too many animals and could not cope. He was then rehomed to a family of grandparents and grandchildren but when the family’s circumstances changed, Kumar had to be returned.

A second family took him in but soon afterwards the family suffered a personal tragedy which meant they could no longer look after Kumar. He was returned to the RSPCA.

Sadly, his third disappointment was after his new owners could not cope with the separation anxiety - which accounts for 15 per cent of behavioural problems in dogs - Kumar suffered from.

He is now being housed at the RSPCA Block Fen Animal Centre in Wimblington.

“Kumar has been through one of the most tragic sets of circumstances I have ever known one dog to endure,” said Vicky Bradshaw, kennel supervisor at the centre.

“It actually breaks my heart when I think of the times he has gone off with a family and it has looked like it is going to work out for the best, but then in some bitter sad and tragic twist of fate, the family have had to give him up again.

“Kumar has so much love to give and deserves a loving home. It’s such a shame that one dog has had to go through so much tragedy and upset in such a short period of time.

“I just hope there is someone out there who can come forward and give him the home that he deserves and has come so close to before, but it has been snatched away because of a spate of sad events.”

Vicky said Kumar was brilliant with young children and loves other dogs.

She added: “Kumar is a real sweetheart who has just such a bad start in life.”
