SHOPPERS at the Tesco store in Wisbech dug deep into their purses and wallets over the weekend and raised more than �2,000 for charity.

Staff at the store had organised three days of fundraising activities including putting the manager in the stocks, karaoke, balloon popping, face painting, competitions and collections.

The two charities involved were the Tesco charity of the year Muscular Dystrophy and also The Army Benevolent Fund.

Charity co-ordinator for the Wisbech store, Jayne Parker, said the weekend had been a great success. She added: "We would like to thank all the customers and staff who took part in the activities and donated money to these two very worthwhile charities.
