SMILING residents woke up to a freshly painted post box this week- just two weeks after a Wisbech Standard reader wrote to complain about its filthy state.
The gleaming new post box, in the village of Terrington St John, is prompting numerous admirers following its surprise make over.
One resident had previously described the "thick green filth and poo of every description that covers it."
But this week the neglected part of Terrington that will, residents hope, forever be home to their post box was gleaming bright in the autumn sunshine.
"It's marvellous, simply marvellous" said one of many admirers before hopping off on a bus to Lynn.
