When Roy Cooper read about two Upwell brothers raising money for research into cluster headaches, he thought he had to do something to help.

Mr Cooper, 53, of Outwell Road, Elm, believed he was the only person in Fenland who suffered with cluster headaches until he saw the story of the Pooley family in the Standard on June 23.

He said: "It has opened my eyes a bit and made me think that maybe I should start to raise money for our cause because it is very in the dark."

Mr Cooper donated £40 to the Pooley family after brothers Richard and David took part in the London 10km run on July 2 to raise money for the Organisation for the Understanding of Cluster Headaches (Ouch) UK.

Richard, 18, completed the course in just over an hour while David, who ran on his 29th birthday, suffered three headache attacks on the course and finished in under two hours.

The brothers from Lode Avenue, Upwell, have raised more than £1,000.

Liz Pooley, mother of David and Richard, said: "We would like to thank everybody who supported us and who donated money.
