CARTOON characters came to life at a Fenland school to kick-start a week-long celebration of all things books.
Minnie Mouse, Cinderella, Dennis the Menace and Captain Jack Sparrow were a few of the many characters that appeared at St Peter's Junior School in Wisbech yesterday.
The fancy dress day launched a week of activities based around books and authors.
But the fun started on Friday when pupils enjoyed a visit from author Pete Johnson. Pupils also bought copies of his books and got them signed.
Throughout the week, pupils will work on topics based on a certain book or author.
And poetry is the theme on Thursday, to celebrate National Poetry Day.
