A TEENAGER was killed when the car he was driving left a Fenland road and collided with a tree.

The 17 year old was driving a blue Rover 420 along Broadgate, Sutton St James, at about 11pm on Friday.

He has not been identified by police, but a police spokesman said he was a local man.

A passenger in the Rover, also a local man, received minor injuries and was treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King's Lynn.

The spokesman said: "Anyone who was in the area of Sutton St James on Friday evening around 11pm and saw the collision or the blue Rover before it left the road is asked to make contact with the witness hotline on 01522 558855."

The teenager's death was the 29th fatality on Lincolnshire's roads this year. It compares with 57 fatal road accidents at the same time last year.
