SEAN Mansfield owed nearly £900 in outstanding fines, but had paid only £30 off the debt in the last five years.
So on Wednesday Fenland slapped a 28-day suspended jail sentence on him and ordered him to pay off the debt at £100 a month.
The fines were imposed on Mansfield, 34, for a variety of offences including assaulting, having no insurance, and breaching a community punishment.
The self-employed subcontractor, of Potters Court, Wisbech, admitted he had been negligent. "It will be paid if you give me the chance to pay," he promised.
He paid the court £100 in cash, and produced a direct debit form showing future payments.
