A MAN accused of breaking into Wisbech Football Club was found hiding under a bed when police went to arrest him on Tuesday, magistrates heard.

Terrence Neaster, 26, has denied breaking into the club on June 27, 2004, and stealing £1,200 in cash.

After he failed to attend Wisbech courthouse on June 26, police went to arrest him at his home.

"His girlfriend said he was still at work, but officers saw his boots and plates of food dished up in the dining room," said prosecutor Andrew Williams. "In the bedroom, the officers saw a foot sticking out from beneath the bed."

Solicitor John Clarke said Neaster denied hiding from police or that he was under the bed.

Neaster, of Kingfisher Drive, Soham, was fined £50 with a £15 surcharge after admitting he failed to attend court on June 26. The date of his trial for the alleged burglary is due to be set on August 29.
