OUR photographer Brian Purdy captured these stunning photographs of the Thomas Clarkson Memorial which is being restored to its former glory.
The statue in Wisbech has had tens of thousands of pounds spent on it in recent times, including 20,000 to replace a damaged panel.
The panel has been removed and a new one is currently being carved, it is expected that it will be installed again in the spring.
The monument is a tribute to the work of Wisbech's most famous son who campaigned against anti-slavery.
Work on the monument has included the replacement of the "supplicant panel" along with repairs to the stone canopy, replacing missing stonework and also the cleaning of the statue.
