Meadowgate School Sixth Form held a Curriculum Enrichment Day where staff transformed the timetable into five different workshops to learn basic first aid.
Each workshop at the Wisbech school was run by a medical professional including paramedics, A&E nurses and community nurses. Throughout the day, students got to learn and practice a range of first aid techniques and processes that they may have to use at home or in the community.
These included dealing with burns and scalds, minor bleeding, what to do in an emergency, the recovery position, dressings and bandages and the experience of being in an ambulance.
Matt Elridge, sixth form co-ordinator, said: “The students thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and we would like to say a big thank you to the staff of Queen Elizabeth Hospital who gave up their spare time to work with us.”
