Steve Barclay MP joined parishioners and the Bishop of Ely, Stephen Conway, at Tydd St Giles Church on Saturday for their Lent lunch to raise money for Christian Aid.
The event helped raise awareness of world inequalities like malnutrition, with most attendees having a lunch of either bread and water or soup. Just seven people out of those at the lunch picked out gold tickets for a three-course meal.
“Tickets are picked out of the hat, and last time my red ticket was for bread and water,” said Mr Barclay.
“This time I managed to pick out a yellow ticket meaning soup.
“The meal was an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of the poverty many in the world face, and also to catch up with villagers on local issues.
“It was also good to have a chat with the Bishop of Ely ahead of our conference on anti-modern slavery with the Home Office minister Sarah Newton MP which is being held in Fenland at the end of this month.”
