A FUN filled open day held at Wisbech Fire Station pulled in the crowds on Sunday.

The event attracted a constant stream of visitors throughout the day, who crowded into the drill yard to check out the many activities on offer.

Visitors to the station were able to take part in a range of action-packed activities, including a driving simulator, a fire engine 'blues and twos' simulator and a 'guess the fire hazards' room.

The open day gave residents a chance to have a look around the fire station in Churchill Road, Wisbech, meet firefighters and pick up useful road and fire safety advice.

Other activities that took place on the day included: A car boot sale, climbing wall, a rodeo ride, refreshments, face painting, a performance from pupils at the Alison's Street Dancers, a fun fair, pony rides and a bouncy castle.

To top it all off, Stars In Their Eyes star and Elvis impersonator, Tony G did an excellent job of comparing and performing on the day and snooker legend Joe Perry, the Fen Potter, cut the ribbon to declare the event open.

The money raised will now be donated to the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund.

Rob Wabe, a firefighter at Wisbech who organised the event, said: "Thanks to the good weather and the vast range of activities that we had on offer, this was one of our most successful open days ever.

"Events like these help us to maintain a close link with the public while at the same time driving home important life-saving messages.

"We would like to thank the people of Wisbech for taking the time to come and see us and for showing their support. We would also like to thank the many businesses and members of staff who helped make this event possible.
