PUPILS from a Whittlesey primary school joined thousands of children across the country for the Tesco Great School Run.

These action shots show youngsters from Alderman Jacobs Primary School completing the two kilometre distance last Friday.

They could walk, jog or run in the event which is aimed at encouraging children to take part in exercise for fun.

All 580 pupils took part alongside their teachers and school staff.

Their efforts were registered with schools across the country in a Guinness World record attempt for the largest simultaneous walk or run.

Liz Dakin, Healthy Lifestyle leader at the school, said: "It was a really good day and we really hope the school has contributed to a world record.
