LIONS from March and Chatteris raised £446.80 for Children in Need when they spent most of Friday at Tesco's March store.

Shoppers dug deep into their pockets and purses to fill buckets with coins and there was a draw for a picture and calendar which were completed by artist John Abbot during the day.

Winner of the picture was Mrs K E Brayne of March and Mr Bullock of Coates won the calendar.

A spokesman for the Lions said the excellent result was due to the co-operation of Tesco staff whose security guard pulled out the winning ticket, John Abbott and the Lions who gave up their time.
