SHOPLIFTER Sean Richardson was caught red handed as he tried to steal a music CD at the Asda store in Wisbech.
He had slipped the stolen disc into his trousers pocket, but security staff apprehended him and got the stolen property back.
At Wisbech courthouse, 22-year-old Richardson, of Biggs Road, Walsoken, admitted theft.
“He is very disappointed with himself,” solicitor George Sorrell told Fenland magistrates. He has made efforts to stay out of trouble, but on this occasion there was a lapse, he saw the CD and liked it.”
Richardson was ordered to perform 40 hours of unpaid work and pay 40 costs.
