A murderer just two weeks into a life sentence for stabbing his victim to death outside a Cambridgeshire pub was caught posting ‘ just chilling’ videos of himself to social media from the inside of Peterborough Prison.

The videos show Kai Nazir laughing with fellow inmates in a cell and he also posted still photographs of prison life.

The caption on the video is “jail house living” and in the video Nazir is heard to say “just chilling”, and then “mandem”, a slang word that refers to a group of male friends.

An investigation has been launched by police discovered that Nazir, who stabbed a man to death at a pub in Cambourne, has appeared in videos on social media taken from inside the prison.

The 20-year-old, of The Crescent, St Neots, was sentenced earlier this month for the murder of 30-year-old Chris West; Nazir’s victim died in a pool of blood after being stabbed 12 times. He claimed it was self defence.

He was also convicted of the attempted murder of another man and having a bladed article.

Nazir’s Instagram account has now been removed from the social media site and both Cambridgeshire police and HMP Peterborough are investigating.

A police spokesman said: “I can confirm that as of September 17 we are aware of reports that a prisoner at HMP Peterborough has access to a mobile phone and social media from within the prison. We are currently looking into the circumstances.”

An HMP Peterborough spokesman said: “Mobile phones are a challenge across the whole prison estate. Our staff at HMP Peterborough work very hard to prevent these items getting into the prison.

“We have taken appropriate action in the prison and reported this incident to the police.”
